Growing Methi PEB (a high-yielding fenugreek variety) in containers is super easy and perfect for home gardens. You’ll have fresh, flavorful leaves ready to harvest in just a few weeks!

Best Time to Grow

  • Ideal season: October to March (cooler months are best)

  • Grows well in most Indian climates during winter & early spring

Container Requirement

  • Depth: Minimum 6 inches

  • Size: Wider pots/troughs/grow bags are better to grow more

  • Ensure good drainage holes

Soil Mix

Methi loves loose, fertile, and well-draining soil:

  • 40% garden soil

  • 30% compost/vermicompost

  • 30% cocopeat or sand for good drainage

Optional: Add neem cake for root health

Sowing the Seeds

  • Sprinkle seeds evenly over moist soil

  • Cover with a thin layer of soil or cocopeat (just enough to hide them)

  • Water gently

Sunlight

  • Needs 4–6 hours of sunlight daily

  • Ideal for balconies, terraces, or sunny windowsills

Watering

  • Water once daily or when the topsoil feels dry

  • Avoid overwatering—roots can rot if waterlogged

Feeding (Optional)

  • Add compost every 15 days

  • No heavy fertilizing needed—methi is low-maintenance

Harvesting

  • First harvest in 20–25 days (for microgreens or baby leaves)

  • For fuller leaves, wait 30–35 days

  • Use scissors to cut leaves above the base—they’ll regrow for another harvest

You can get 2–3 cuttings from one sowing!

Pests & Protection

  • Usually pest-free

  • If needed, spray neem oil once a week (5 ml per liter of water)
